I Cheated On Tableau with Power BI

    Can you also compare Tableau to PowerBI from a corporation deployment standpoint? How does each stack up when administering the corporate site. User login, Folder management and protection. Tableau has a really robust server and then site admin options. I can lock folders by groups or individuals. Each project then has a large array of settings to allow or limit users from filtering, downloading, editing, Saving. Tableau also has their subscriptions and alert messages that can be sent to anyone that subscripts to them when data meets and certain criteria. Everyone always compares the building piece, but it is difficult to find the consumption comparison.

    • @penguinanalytics1984
      @penguinanalytics1984 17 дней назад

      I'll see what I can do - I work with corporate implementations of both, but I can't show any videos of the actual implementations because it's all proprietary. I'll see what I can find elsewhere though. :) The short answer is they're pretty similar, but Tableau is more centralized, whereas Power BI is more distributed. You can do a lot of the same things. I get the impression a lot of the Power BI development over the last few years has been catching up with what Tableau already does well.

      It's all to do with how much they sell. If a few products make up most of their profit, they could have a large number of products that are sustainable, but those products only make up a small number of sales. Basically, the sustainable products are they sell very often. :)

    First, you do not pay an extra $12,000. As you pay off the principal the interest payment gets smaller. For $30,000 at 8% for 5 years you actually pay about $6,500... So, yes you are paying an additional 13% over the 50k. But that allows you to get something beyond your immediate cash assets for $108 per month. The extreme of this is buying a house, and getting a mortgage where you can end up paying twice the purchase value over 25+ years. But without a mortgage only a tiny percentage of people would have enough liquid assets to pay for a house.

    • @penguinanalytics1984
      @penguinanalytics1984 Месяц назад

      I'm not suggesting you not finance a car or a house, just that you understand the cost of the financing. Often people look at the monthly payment in isolation and don't realize what they're paying for. All data needs context. :)

    • @nclimey
      @nclimey Месяц назад

      @@penguinanalytics1984 I don't know where you live, lots of places use dollars. In the US it is a requirement that a lender tells you the total cost of the loan, although I suspect some places are more upfront with this information than others. But people should also know how the interest on a loan works. Your example would be accurate on an interest only payment, but those are very unusual, and I doubt anyone would use one to buy a car. But I think it is almost as bad to overestimate the interest cost as not factoring it in. The formula for loan payments is not friendly....M = P [ i(1 + i)^n ] / [ (1 + i)^n - 1]. Gives you the monthly payment. But there are hundreds of loan calculators on the Internet which take care of the math for you. Suggest one of those rather than doing the math wrong.

  • @MEGABOBOBOXZGT
    @MEGABOBOBOXZGT Месяц назад

    The price ya pay for not having 50k, its how they make money giving you money. Can try for a better rate but if you need that car and theres nothing cheaper. Thats the price.

    • @penguinanalytics1984
      @penguinanalytics1984 Месяц назад

      Of course - but people don't realize what they're paying for or how much you really pay to lose someone else's money. It's not a scam, but people should be making an informed choice. :)

    I was about to begin an online course, 'Creating Data Visualizations using Tableau' and learned that basically I needed to 'learn Tableau on my own' BEFORE taking the class! I was stunned. I didn't recall learning Tableau was a pre-requisite for the class. I mean, what purpose is the class except to 'teach you Tableau?' I felt assured I could go to RUclips and find videos that allow me to self learn and this video did not disappoint. Great job!! I learned so much and now I wish i could cancel the class altogether. What a waste of money and time.
